  • Q1 - What is the DaDo 2.0 and its capabilities?
The DaDo laser welder is an excellent tool for small workshops and is particularly well-suited to the needs of the jewellery industry. Whether you're focused on repairs or manufacturing, the DaDo offers versatile capabilities that save time and streamline workflows. For jewellery manufacturing, the DaDo is ideal for tasks like tacking before soldering and filling in porosities on castings. Instead of sending pieces back to be recast—a process that can take a week or more and delay production—the DaDo enables you to quickly and effectively address these issues on the spot. Its precision and efficiency make it a valuable asset in creating high-quality jewellery with minimal downtime.
  • Q2 - What Jewellery Repairs are the DaDo 2.0 capable of?
The DaDo laser welder is incredibly versatile, offering solutions for a wide range of jewellery repair tasks. Some of the key repair capabilities include: Re-tipping and re-clawing: Perfect for restoring prongs or claws on jewellery without affecting the surrounding area. Ring resizing: Particularly effective with platinum, creating seamless adjustments with no visible solder lines. Chain repairs: Heat only the specific link that needs repair without affecting the entire chain, reducing the need for pickling and extensive polishing. Jump rings and bolt rings: Handle these delicate components with precision. Work near stones: The DaDo allows repairs right next to stones, even with the stone in place, reducing the risk of damage. This precision ensures you avoid unnecessary complications, such as damaging or dislodging stones, turning a straightforward repair into a complex one. The DaDo is even effective for costume jewellery, making it a versatile tool for professional jewellers.
  • Q3 - Whats the difference Between the DaDo 1.0 and DaDo 2.0?
The DaDo 2.0 introduces several significant upgrades over the original model, enhancing its power, precision, and efficiency: Increased Power: With 50% more power, the DaDo 2.0 handles highly conductive metals like silver much better. Silver tends to dissipate energy quickly, but the enhanced power allows for effective repairs and resizing that were more challenging with the DaDo 1.0. Expanded Power Settings: The DaDo 2.0 offers 25 power settings compared to the 12 settings in the original model. This versatility allows finer control, with even lighter power settings for delicate tasks. Faster Firing Speed: The DaDo 2.0 can fire at either 1 or 4 shots per second, a significant improvement over the 1 shot per second limitation of the DaDo 1.0. This faster firing rate makes jobs like ring resizing much quicker and more efficient. These upgrades make the DaDo 2.0 a more versatile and time-saving tool for jewellers, especially when working with challenging materials or completing detailed tasks.
  • Q4 - What metals can you use on the DaDo?
The DaDo laser welder is compatible with a wide range of metals, making it a versatile tool for various applications, including jewellery and watch repairs. The supported materials include: Silver Gold Platinum Titanium - Titanium does require the use of argon gas to as this stops it from sparking inside the chamber. Brass Steel Many More! This versatility makes the DaDo particularly suitable for tasks like watchmaking, watch repairs, and watch polishing.
  • Q5 - Do you need Argon Gas?
The Argon kit is an optional add-on for the DaDo laser welder, designed to improve performance when working with certain metals, particularly titanium. You can pre-order the kit with the machine or purchase it separately and install it yourself later. How it works: When you press the pedal the first time, the Argon kit releases a shot of argon gas over the workpiece. Pressing the pedal again fires the laser while maintaining the argon shield. Why it's important: Argon gas prevents sparking, which is a common issue when welding metals like titanium. Without argon, oxygen in the welding area can cause intense sparking—similar to a firework display—which can damage the workpiece and compromise safety. Using the Argon kit ensures clean, precise welding with minimal risk of such issues. This makes the Argon kit essential for anyone planning to work with titanium or other reactive metals.
  • Q6 - What are the features of the DaDo?
The DaDo 2.0 laser welder is equipped with advanced features that enhance precision and user convenience: 10x Microscope: Provides a clear, close-up view of your work, ensuring accuracy in every detail. Power Control Dial: Located inside the chamber, the black dial serves dual functions: turning the machine on and adjusting the power settings. The machine always starts at Power 1, indicated by a lime-green colour. As power increases, the colours transition from lime green to duller green, yellow, orange, and finally red. Phone App: A downloadable app (available for Android and Apple) serves as a digital power display. However, using the app is optional, offering flexibility for users who prefer working without a phone. Adjustable Beam Size: The beam size can be adjusted using a dial on top of the chamber. Moving the dial further away reduces the beam size, ideal for strong, precise joins. Moving the dial closer increases the beam size, useful for smoothing and finishing work. These features make the DaDo 2.0 both intuitive and versatile, catering to the needs of jewellers and other precision workers.
  • Q7 - How do I check the DaDo’s water level?
Inside the DaDo chamber, on the right-hand side of the back wall, you’ll find a slit where the water tank is located. Here's how to maintain it: Water Level: The water tank should be about three-quarters full. If the level is low, simply top it up. Checking Frequency: You only need to check the water level every 6 months to a year, depending on usage. Water Type: The DaDo requires de-ionized water, which is commonly used by jewellers for steam cleaners. You can also find de-ionized water at most hardware stores. Proper maintenance of the water tank ensures smooth operation and longevity of the machine.
  • Q8 - What setting shall I use for what jobs?
When you receive your DaDo laser welder, it will come with a suggested guide outlining recommended power settings for various tasks. However, it's important not to rely solely on these settings. The best approach is to start with a low power setting and gradually increase the power until you achieve the desired result. This method ensures greater control over your work, allowing you to fine-tune the settings to suit your specific task. This "start low and adjust" technique applies not just to the DaDo, but to any laser welder, making it a reliable way to get the best results.
  • Q9 - What are the risk factors?
The risk of injury when using the DaDo laser welder is extremely low. The only real way you could hurt yourself is if you accidentally shoot yourself with the laser. However, with the 10x zoom microscope, you'll have a clear view of your work, which greatly reduces the chance of this happening. To further avoid injury, you can use tools like tweezers, pliers, or speed wire to handle materials, keeping your hands safely away from the laser area. Always take care to operate the machine with attention and precision, and you'll minimise any risk of injury
  • Q10 - Does the machine come with a warranty?
Yes, the DaDo 2.0 comes with a two-year warranty that covers all parts of the machine, except for the flash bulb. The flash bulb is the only consumable part, but it typically lasts for about 5 million shots. If the flash bulb becomes faulty, it will still be replaced under the warranty. Additionally, you can also opt for an extended warranty for extra peace of mind. For more details, feel free to contact us or check for more information. • Q19 - What are the error messages and how do we fix them?
I’m getting Error #4 (Flow Failure) on my DaDo 2.0 laser welder. What should I do? If you receive an Error #4 message, this is generally an issue with the tank, and/or the flow of water. This could be due to low water, a blockage or a problem with the tank. If it’s low water, this can be checked by looking at the water level line (within the chamber), and topping up if necessary. If it’s the tank itself - especially on older models - then we would need to either service the machine and replace the tank, or we can send you a tank to fit yourself with our guidance. I’m getting Error #5 (Simmer Failure) on my DaDo 2.0 laser welder. What should I do? This can happen after a period of overuse, when the machines overheats. Please allow the machine to cool itself down and ensure that it is switched off at the power. If the error persists, then please let our Support Team know. We’ll likely need to collect the machine for service and repair it. I’m getting Error #6 (interlock) on my DaDo 2.0 laser welder. What should I do? This is indicative of the interlock and key not being inserted in their respective ports. They are likely taped to the left-side of the chamber. Please see this video for how to insert them:
  • Q20 - I'm firing the laser and its making a noise but nothing happening on the metal, what should I do?
Check spot size - Simply adjust it using the sliding scale on the roof of the chamber. Check power you are on and if its enough for the metal you are working on Try adding black marker pen to the area.
